Being As You Asked So Nicely....

...I thought I'd show you the thigh boots I picked up at Thursday's car boot sale. Just the thing to add a bit of interest to my ancient skinny jeans I've had to dig out of the depths of beyond as I'm helping a friend move house and whafting around in a vintage maxi dress isn't really an option.

I'm actually the proud owner of three pairs of jeans, all bought for under £2. I do rather like jeans but lets face it, life's far too short to waste it wearing practical clothing.

I've added a 1970's Courtaulds' knife pleat blouse I found in a town centre charity shop last week along with a fabulous vintage crochet waistcoat sent all the way from New Zealand by my darling Helga.

This rather insane pendant was from a car boot sale a couple of weeks ago, even the lady selling it laughed when I bought it.

I bought this Indian ring bracelet from Oxfam when I was 12. Charity shops were my stores of choice even as a child.

This is my LFW goodie bag along with some of the contents - prettily packaged panty pads and tissues, a Sharpie Pen, Lavazza coffee, Label M hair product, Jergens moisturiser, a Joy lollipop, posh raspberry liquer (I had two as Jem's teetotal and very generous), Special K Strawberry & Chocolate cereal (there were three of these but Jon's demolished two of them), a Vodofone simcard, a Galaxy Ripple (which I ate on the train home) and a 30ml Juicy Couture Travel Eau de Toilette (which caused much hilarity with my friends who kept asking where my velour tracksuit was).
TopShop Jeans (£1), Thigh Boots (£3), Blouse (£2.60), Pendant (50p) Waistcoat (Free) Total cost: £7.10
I've been tagged and given awards by some lovely bloggers. I really appreciate this and shall be passing on your kindness later in the week.

  7. I am so jealous, Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
I do love car boot sales and charity shops: places to wander and find treasures. You are soooooooooooo lucky.
By the way, I sell ( as a hobby) and buy on Ebay ( as a pleasure). I would love to have your ebay shop name.

  8. What a fun goody bag! The boots are fabulous and really jazz up your jeans (HOWEVER, how in the world can you help your friend move in those heels????) The ring bracelet is charming. In my sheltered existence, I don't think I've ever seen one before.

  9. Love the thigh highs! Jeans really suit you - you should wear them more often, in highly impractical ways, of course!

Sounds like you had an absolute ball at London Fashion Weekend. How fab. xx

  10. I thought that I didn't like thigh length boots but I love those boots on you. Love the jewellery.

  11. Dear Vix, I love "life's too short to wear practical clothes" I agree. But this is a fantastic outfit and after all the hair do's last week I think your hair looks lovely just as it is.

The pendant is stunning and so is the ring bracelet. My friend Fee would love it. Do you follow her blog? I think it's right up your street xx

  13. I love your boots, they do look great with the jeans! I once owned some brown leather thigh high boots that turned over at the top, I loved them but everyone called me 'Puss in Boots' so my love dwindled a bit :(

  17. Your jewellery is insanely cool! Love today's 'practical' outfit too. I am looking out for a pair of thigh highs for winter as my current knee highs are looking rather the worse for wear; they are several years old though so it is understandable x

  18. Great boots Vix. My grandma used to work in Courtaulds... she may have even made that very blouse lol lol! Hope you are well. xx

  19. Hot! The boots are perfect for your jeans. I think I own 2-3 pairs. One I bought in the 80s in the States for $2. Not really my favourite choice of clothing, but we all need a chance to be sensible, sometimes... xxx
(Don't think I'll be much of a commenter today, since blogger is not letting me sign in :(

  25. The Indian bracelet was a gorgeous find. Good eye, 12-year-old Vix! And thanks for the peek into the goodie bag -- enviable bundle of surprise treats. Seriously, sometimes even a free sample of feminine pads in a brand I haven't tried can be a little perk to my day.

Maybe in 2040 you'll be vintage stylin' in '00s era Juicy velour. :-b

I must print this out and post this somewhere visible - you are so right - I love everything you are wearing - everything! That knife pleat blouse is amazing. And thank you for showing the boots - they are awesome. OTK boots are on my shopping list for the winter!

  27. You look absolutely great Vix. Quite stunning in those boots but what I am liking most of all is that interesting ring/bracelet that your twelve year old self picked out. You had an eye for personal style even then.

  32. Dear Vix,
Killer boots & they go perfectly with your skinnies.
I bagged a pair myself at Sunday's boot sale for cheaps but I think I may give them to my niece?
I'm so with you with you as regards to life being too short to waste on wearing practical clothing.
My biggest gripe with jeans is that, very much like McDonalds & Tesco, they are bleeding everywhere!
I sit on the tube & despair at the fact that I am the only one in the whole flipping carriage NOT wearing them...I actually find this fact rather disconcerting sometimes :(
However if every jeans aficionado styled his or her outfits to Vix grade perfection, I might even have to amend my opinion?!
Hope the house move went smoothly.
    Luv,
    Jem

  37. You did not pick those boots up at a car boot sale. They're incredible and have my favourite heel - and man you are rockin' them girl:). The top is beautiful - I want see those pleats up close and I love your goody bag:) xo

  38. I really love this outfit and the thigh highs r.o.c.k! I still have my thigh highs from the 80s and 90s and intend to pass them onto Monkeychild eventually. That Indian hand jewellery is gorgeous and isn't lovely to still wear something that you brought as a child.

P.S. You look damn fine in jeans !

  39. I love the boots, what a fab find, and they do look really good on you..I'm with you on the jeans, I don't have naything against them per se, but I think I just prefer pretty dresses.. xx

  41. I love the pendant, such an intriguing piece.
There’s nothing quite as exciting and intriguing as a goodie bag, even if most of the contents are things you wouldn’t normally necessarily purchase, it’s still plenty fun xx

  44. Fantastic! I love how you've thrown this outfit together, it looks so gorgeous and effortless!

(The thing that often turns me off about an outfit is when you can see that everything has been carefully coordinated and it looks forced. I love it when an outfit looks effortless, even if it wasn't!)

  45. Rowrrr. Kinky boots!! I have one pair of thigh-highs (with a contrast red turn-over at the top - very puss in boots) but they've yet to have an outing because they're quite high heeled and I'm not great in them. Would love to find a pair like this...

  46. They're gorgeous! Love the suede insert detail down the side (hope that's what it is, and that I'm not going mad/blind). The ring bracelet is wonderful too.
